The company was established in January 1970 by Dipl.-Ing. Dr. mont. Meißner (†) in Flörsheim-Weilbach and has already been admitted to the „Verzeichnis der Institute für Erd- und Grundbau“ (Register of Geotechnical Consultants) by the „Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik", Berlin, in November 1971. The co-operation with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Eberhard Franke, who held the chair in our field at the University of Technology in Darmstadt, resulted in Prof. Franke joining the company at the beginning of 1981 as another managing director. The company had become a public limited corporation, the Baugrundinstitut Prof. Franke Dr. Meißner GmbH.

Our initial focus on special civil engineering has expanded in the course of time and does now include the whole range of soil and rock mechanical, soil engineering, engineering geology, hydrogeological and environmental problems.

As the company’s scope enlarged, so too did the number of employees. It was therefore necessary in 1986 to move to the premises in Wiesbaden-Delkenheim, which are considerably larger. Dr.-Ing. Michael Köster (†) joined as a further business partner in 1988. The company’s name was changed into Baugrundinstitut Franke-Meißner und Partner GmbH. Dipl.Ing. Gottfried Hahslinger also became business partner and managing director in 1995. Before that, he was employed with a construction firm as the head of the special civil engineering branch.
